WHAT ARE THEY?

As part of the process to become licenced as a nurse practitioner in Nova Scotia, we require that you successfully complete one of the following NP exams based on the stream of practice you’re becoming licenced in: family, adult or pediatric.

Family/All Ages NP Exam

The exam determines whether an NP candidate demonstrates the competencies necessary for safe and ethical practice as a family/all ages NP in Nova Scotia. The exam is a four hour, 190-220 multiple choice question exam.

The exam determines whether an NP candidate demonstrates the competencies necessary for safe and ethical practice as a pediatric NP in Nova Scotia. The exam is a three hour, 175 multiple choice question exam.
