Licencing exams are a component of initial registration and licensure at CRNNS. Your status determines the licencing exam you need for licensure eligibility and the CRNNS licensing exams include the NCLEX-RN® Exam, Jurisprudence Exams and NP Exams.
Each exam is fair, equitable and measures the competencies that are required – and ones the public can expect – from you as an RN or NP. Our goal is to administer licencing exams reflective of current nursing practice and to have successful exam takers be safe, competent members of the profession.
To aid in this, we offer many supports and resources for you, the exam taker, so you can be best prepared for exam success.
As part of the process to become an RN in Nova Scotia, all applicants must successfully complete an entry-level exam, called the NCLEX-RN® Exam, that measures the competencies required of entry-level nurses.
As part of the process to become an RN or NP in Nova Scotia, all applicants must successfully complete the RN and/or NP Jurisprudence Exams, an exam which measures a nurse’s awareness of provincial and regulatory policies and any provincial and federal laws related to nursing practice in this province.
To become an NP in Nova Scotia, applicants must licence with us in one of the following three streams of practice: Family, Adult or Pediatric. Based on their chosen stream of practice, applicants must successfully complete a corresponding NP Exam.
In return for the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (hereinafter referred to as ‘CRNNS’) providing you with a user ID and password, you agree to abide by the following terms and conditions of use for this and all future uses of the CRNNS Committee Portal through the use of your CRNNS user ID and password:
