Each year, all RN and NP licenses expire on October 31. If you wish to continue working after this date you must renew your active-practising licence prior to November 1.

As CRNNS, our role in this process is to confirm that nurses meet the licensure requirements before being issued a licence. We accomplish this by reviewing, processing and renewing the licences of all current, qualified members using an efficient and secure process.

If you held an active-practising licence in the previous licensure year and have not worked outside of Nova Scotia please log onto your member portal to renew your licence here.

If you have worked outside of Nova Scotia since last holding an active-practising license please visit our website here.

You are legally unable to practise nursing in Nova Scotia until you receive a current licence. Working with an expired licence may result in a professional conduct complaint or a decision that would impact your future ability to practise nursing in Nova Scotia.

If you have any additional question please contact the Registration team at registration@crnns.ca or 902.491.9744 ext.1221/1249 (Toll Free: 1.800.565.9744) for assistance.
