Each year, all RNs and NPs who hold an active-practising licence in Nova Scotia must renew their licence with CRNNS. The 2018 licensure year is now closed. It was open during July 17-October 31, 2017. Nurses will once again have the opportunity to renew their licence starting next July 16, 2018.

As CRNNS, our role in this process is to confirm that nurses meet the licensure requirements before being issued a licence. We accomplish this by reviewing, processing and renewing the licences of all current, qualified members using an efficient and secure process.

If you previously held an active-practising licence and did not renew your licence by October 31 in time to receive a current 2018 licence, please contact the Registration team at registration@crnns.ca or 902.491.9744 ext. 221/249 (Toll Free: 1.800.565.9744).

You are legally unable to practise nursing in Nova Scotia until you receive a 2018 licence. Working with an expired licence may result in a professional conduct complaint or a decision that would impact your future ability to practise nursing in Nova Scotia.
