Updated Medical Assistance in Dying Practice Guidelines for Nurses

On June 17 2016, Bill C-14, which amends the Criminal Code to regulate the provision of medical assistance in dying (MAiD) became law.

As a result, CRNNS in collaboration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Nova Scotia (CLPNNS), have revised the Medical Assistance in Dying Practice Guidelines for Nurses to reflect this new information as it relates to Bill C-14. The new practice guidelines, which were published on June 28 2016, can be found here.

We are also currently in the process of finalizing practice guidelines specifically for nurse practitioners, which will be released shortly.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please contact one of our Practice Consultants for more detailed support by emailing practice@crnns.ca or calling 902-491-9744 (toll-free 800-565-9744).
