Council Approves New 2017 Code of Ethics

The College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (CRNNS) is excited to announce that the CRNNS Council approved the revised Canadian Nurses Association’s 2017 Code of Ethics during its Board meeting on September 27.

The 2017 Code of Ethics will officially come into effect in Nova Scotia on October 31, 2017. On this date, all registered nurses (RNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) will be held accountable to the 2017 Code of Ethics. This updated version will guide RNs and NPs in practice and will help ensure that they provide safe, compassionate and ethical care to Nova Scotians.

To support RNs and NPs in Nova Scotia in understanding and applying the 2017 Code of Ethics in practice, CRNNS  is offering three upcoming webinar education sessions open to all nurses in October and November. To learn more and to register, click here.

RNs and NPs will be notified via email and on the website on October 31 when this change takes effect in Nova Scotia. Until then, all RNs and NPs are still accountable to practice according to the current 2008 Code of Ethics.
