In today’s nursing world, it is important to look towards the future of the province to understand the potential of nurses to meet the evolving needs of Nova Scotians. Armed with this knowledge, nurses can better lead innovative change to advance the health of Nova Scotians.
This year’s keynote address is titled The Future of Nova Scotia and will explore how nurses can prepare for future trends in Nova Scotia, such as demographic shifts and changes to the types of clients requiring nursing care to improve the health of Nova Scotians.
We’re thrilled to reveal this year’s keynote speaker for our Education Forum is Dr. Ramona Lumpkin. She is a well-known post-secondary education leader and served Mount Saint Vincent University as President and Vice-Chancellor from 2010 until her retirement from the position in 2017.
An active community volunteer, Dr. Lumpkin is committed to helping create a more vibrant, prosperous and inclusive future for our province. She currently works to achieve this by serving as Board Chair of Engage Nova Scotia. Engage Nova Scotia works with partners to foster a culture of engagement, innovation and collaboration in communities across the province.
As a forward-thinking leader, Dr. Lumpkin is a perfect fit for our 2018 Education Forum theme, Looking Forward Together as Nurses: Making a Better Future for Nova Scotians. She will kick off our exciting day of free education by delivering her keynote address on the future of Nova Scotia and how as nurses you can be prepared to influence the future health of Nova Scotians.
