Launch of the 2017 RN Standards of Practice

Today, CRNNS has launched the official 2017 Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses. These standards are now in effect and all nurses in Nova Scotia are now held accountable to these standards in their practice.

This marks an important moment for nurses because these revised standards of practice further clarify their accountabilities and expectations as an RN. For the public and for us as the regulator, it means that there are revised legal and professional expectations of nurses in their practice. Elements within the standards of practice that have been revised include an increased emphasis on communications, social media and plans of care.

Given the importance of this document, CRNNS is also excited to  provide nurses with a variety of education options, tools and resources to help them in better understanding, interpreting and applying the revised standards in your practice. To begin, download the official 2017 Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses or click here to access more information, tools and resources.
